Aristoteles 1.0 for iOS – Free App Calculates Blood Alcohol Content
Pfaeffikon, Switzerland – Power App today is pleased to introduce Aristoteles 1.0 for iOS, their free Utility that calculates blood alcohol level or blood alcohol content based on data supplied by the user. The app displays five empty numeric fields: Weight, Height, Age, Desired Blood Alcohol percentage, and Sex M/F. After entering the required variables, the app provides a scrolling list of the quantity of popular alcoholic beverages that must be consumed to reach the target Blood Alcohol Content. The legal BAC, after which a person is driving while intoxicated, varies from country to country and state to state, and can be between 0% and 0.08%
Aristoteles also displays the quantity of 100% alcohol the user would need to consume to reach the Desired Blood Alcohol percentage. The percentage of alcohol in the bloodstream is determined by several variables. For example, men have a higher water content in their blood (58%) than women (49%). This suggests that men would need to drink more to become intoxicated than women of the same weight. MakeMeDrunk takes into account three other factors besides gender: Height, Weight, and Age. Because the app accounts for the four primary variables, its resultant calculations are highly accurate.
While it is universally recognized that drinking affects driving performance, standard vary widely. Russia and Hungary have a zero tolerance policy with no BAC above 0% permissible. China and Poland have a 0.02% policy, Germany and France set the limit at 0.05%, while the US and UK permit up to 0.08%.
After filling in all the variables, touching the calculate button brings up a scrolling list of results. Users may request results in any number of the three categories of alcoholic beverages listed: Beer, Wine, Hard Liquor. In each category the exact number of liters necessary to reach the desired alcohol level is displayed. Also shown is the alcohol content by volume of each beverage. For example, and individual needs to consume 0.220 liters (220 ml, 7.4 oz) of beer (5% alcohol, 10 proof) to reach 0.08% BAC. The same person would need to drink 0.069 liters (69 ml, 2.3 oz) of table wine (8% alcohol, 16 proof), or 0.0131 liters (13.1 ml, 0.44 oz) of bourbon (43% alcohol, 86 proof) to reach 0.08% BAC.

IDC Projects Releases New Location-Based Game
Rolla, Missouri – IDC Projects announced the beta launch of their newest app, Hazards. IDC Projects is looking to define a new market for the location based gaming community while allowing players to experience a true gaming atmosphere and maintain a strong social aspect of play.
After months of design and development, the beta test is coming to the students and faculty of Missouri S&T, located in Rolla, Missouri. Chosen for their technical and gaming knowledge, IDC Projects sought a controlled testing atmosphere with a large population of tech savvy consumers to test their application. Missouri S&T proves to be the perfect test environment.
Hazards is a social game that uses the phone’s GPS to compete with friends by placing “hazards,” virtual traps placed in real locations. Hazards was conceived as a way to engage the location based game population and add some risk and reward to the typical check-in process of apps such as Foursquare or Gowalla. Internal market research indicates that there are not any games that incorporate both the location based nature of Hazards while focusing on being a strategy game. The Android only beta release is available as of 10/31/2011. Beta testers can download a copy at IDC Projects online. The game is scheduled for release on iOS and Android by the end of 2011.
IDC Projects has implemented several features that set Hazards apart from the typical location based, massively multi-player, online game. They have applied the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to simulate players which increases playability for early adopters or in remote areas with a small population. This strategy was executed as a result of other location based apps struggling in remote or rural areas.
The beta test will primarily determine the scalability of the AI and it’s perceived effect by users. By design, normal users will be unaware of the system. As the number of players grows in a region, the AI will gradually remove itself from operation, resulting in purely organic players. More information on the capabilities and limitations of the AI system can be read on the Hazards website.
There are several types of hazards which players can use to affect other players in different ways. The points system used in Hazards are “Quoins” and can be gained or lost based on the players placing or trespassing on hazards. The core strategy of the game is based upon when and where to place a hazard and the characteristics chosen for it. Played foolishly, a player can easily lose all of their starting Quoins. If placed strategically, however, the hazards placed can reap great rewards for a smart player.

BlackTower2 RETAKE 2.0 for iOS – Free, Fast-Paced, Monster Matching Game
Gunsan, Korea, Republic Of – BuBuCompany today is pleased to announce BlackTower2 RETAKE 2.0 for iOS, an update to their free, fast-paced, monster matching game. Featuring all black and white graphics, except for the amethyst mystical jewel, players must match the action of a cartoon monster with actions depicted in two or more different pictures. Selecting correctly moves them up the Black Tower, and selecting incorrectly ends the game unless players have earned extra lives. Players have just two or three seconds to make the correct match and continue to the next level.
During gameplay, a simple black and white cartoon monster (there are more than 30 different kinds) performs a simple action, like lifting their arms. As this occurs, a beam of light illuminating the monster from above quickly narrows until it disappears. The player must then try to quickly match what they have just seen with two or more still images below. Choosing correctly causes the player’s character to jump up a level.
Players can Lifeup and add a life, Timeup and extend the time the light is on, and achieve bonus points. Players can also enhance their power through lightning Powerups. The game features humorous monsters and helps players improve their reaction time.

Math Game Reaches Top of App Store Educational iPad Game Charts

Fancygames Releases New Characters for Yumm iPhone
London, United Kingdom – Fancygames today is pleased to announce a major release for the iOS version of their game Yumm.
