Babo Crash in Review – 21 Levels of Madness!

The App Store is certainly not short of Match 3 titles, and clearly Playbrains were perfectly aware of this when developing their latest title – Babo Crash. This is why they’ve attempted to make it different from every other game out there and give it something really special. On the one hand, gameplay wise they’ve done a great job, but there are some features which could be added in which would make it so much better. Feel free to discuss this review of Babo Crash in our forums.

WritePad in Review – Nothing to Write Home About

WritePad for the iPhone or iPod Touch is a text editing software App which allows you to ‘write’ using your finger or a stylus on your touchscreen, and it’s converted to text. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure why anyone would want to buy or use this App. It’s not responsive enough for use for notetaking in meetings, as you have only so much space on your screen to write and you must wait for that to be recognised and entered into your document before you continue. Goodreads in Review – Be A Bookworm, Any Time, Any Place!

For book lovers reading this, chances are you already know what Goodreads is. If not, it’s basically a social network for readers. According to their website, it’s the largest of its kind in the world, with in excess of 3 million members.

The website allows you to become friends with people, recommend books, get recommendations, see reviews and scores and add books to your ‘shelves.’ Your virtual shelves are read, currently reading and to-read. It’s free to join, and the iPhone/iPod Touch App is also free to download and use. Feel free to discuss this review of Goodreads in our forums.

Gyrotate in Review – Finger Flicking Fun

Gyrotate is a puzzle game where you must match shapes – similar to PopCap’s Bejeweled 2. You still have a grid where you swap shapes around to match them, but in Gyrotate the clue is in the name. To match, you must rotate sections of the board so the pieces line up. For this reason, the gameplay mechanic isn’t quite as fast-paced and you must be more accurate with your moves in order to get the tiles where you need them to be. Unlike Bejeweled though, you must match four or more tiles in Gyrotate. Feel free to discuss this review of Gyrotate in our forums.

The Dog – Puppy Pets in Review: A Bit Ruff!

As a big dog lover, I was excited to get The Dog – Puppy Pets to review. I installed it to my iPhone and booted up. I was presented with five breeds of dog to choose from: Labrador, Beagle, Boxer, Yorkshire Terrier and German Shephard. I chose Labrador, named it and went on my way.

Pocket Chef in Review – Become a Master Chef!

Gameloft’s Pocket Chef is a 3D cooking game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. It’ll be very familiar to those who have played games like Cooking Mama, particularly if you’ve played it on the Nintendo DS. Feel free to discuss this review of Pocket Chef in our forums.

Tumbledrop in Review – An Island Paradise

Tumbledrop is basically a game of physics. On entering a level, you’re presented with a variety of different shapes in formation. Somewhere in the formation will be a pink star. Your aim is to remove pieces from the screen by tapping them. This must result in the pink star landing safely on the island or platform in the level. If you don’t succeed, your star will plunge into icy waters with a distressed look on its face. Sounds simple, right? Well at first it is… but naturally it gets much harder.

PenguFlip in Review – Oodles of Cuteness, but…

Penguins seem to be a real hot property in the App Store – there are lots of games featuring those cute critters. The game in question here is called PenguFlip. The aim of the game is to get your penguin to fly as high as possible before crash-landing to earth. There, sadly, your penguin friend smashes through ice and makes a reappearance as a ghost. Unfortunate, but true.

eBooks – Safe smut for the iPhone

For some time now, the App Store has been getting press due to the fact that there is no pornographic material on sale. Apps which manage to slip through, whether it be by pulling the wool over Apple’s eyes – or for some other reason – have been removed. I, however, may have the answer – for some of you, at least.
