Karateka remake kicks and punches its way onto iOS App Store
Remember Karateka? You know, that classic 8-bit side-scroller fighter that made your jaw drop back in the 80′s? Well Jordan Mechner, the man behind the game and who later made Prince of Persia, has brought Karateka back to life with the help of Jeff Matsuda’s artwork (The Batman) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization IV). The remake first arrived on XBLA in early November and has now arrived on iOS.

iTunes $50 eGift Card for $40 at Walmart.com
Walmart is now selling $50 Apple iTunes eGift Cards for only $40. Once purchased, the electronic code will be delivered right into your inbox (according to Walmart, within minutes in most cases). These codes can then be redeemed on iTunes for music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and of course apps and games. That’s an extra $10 to buy currently discounted games from EA Mobile and Telltale, all of which are on sale for a dollar. As for international users who have US iTunes accounts, this offer may not apply to you as these retailers now require that you have a US based credit card or Paypal account. Head over to Walmart to take advantage of this 20% off deal.

Get Siri to show directions via Google Maps app
By now, you’ve likely already downloaded the recently released (and excellent) Google Maps app on your iPhone and made it your primary navigation tool. Unfortunately though, there’s no way to make it your default maps app without jailbreaking. But what if there was a way to make it so that Siri will give directions to a location using Google Maps? JailbreakNation discovered that by adding “via transit” to the end of your Siri command, a go-between “Routing Apps” page will appear and allow you to select desired navigation apps. For example, you can say “Give me directions to [destination] via transit“, or “Take me to the closest [POI] via transit“. Voilà. You can then select Google Maps and choose from one of the suggested routes. It’s not a perfect integration, but at least it’s there if you’d like to use both Siri and Gmaps. Check out the demo video below.
FAA’s Free App of the Day – The Walking Dead: The Game
We’re working together with the team at Free App Alliance to highlight a great free app for you to check out.
If you download one game today, make sure it’s Telltale’s award-winning point-and-click adventure Walking Dead: The Game. This five-part series is just spectacular… from start to finish.
In Episode 1: A New Day, you take on the role of a con named Lee Everett, who’s thrust into survival mode when his police escort careers off-road and into a walker-filled forest. Your aim is to safely make your way to the small town of Macon, Georgia. Along your journey, you’ll meet and greet plenty of other apocalypse survivors, and be faced with tons of tough decisions. These decisions have an impact on future episodes. So, if you get on the wrong side of a survivor, don’t expect him to help you out of a sticky situation later down the line. Simply put, if you enjoy a good adventure game and are fan of the TV show/comics, be sure to grab Ep1 while it’s still free.
