Orions: Legends of Wizards in Review – A card game of legendary proportions

orions1I’ll be honest.  I’ve never played card games on computers or consoles.  Sure, I’ve played hearts on my PC, but that’s about it.  I used to play Hearts, Euchre and Crazy Eights when I was younger, but I really haven’t played any card games since then.

After playing Orions: Legends of Wizards, I’m left wondering why I haven’t played card games in such a long time!  I’ve spent a few sleepless nights and days at work dreaming about what my next move and/or strategy should be for my next battle.  That my friends, is when you know you’re playing a great game.

Cake Mania 3 in Review – Can we have our cake and eat it too?

cakemania1As you all know from my previous review, I’m a real-time managing expert.  Ok, I may not be an expert, and I may not even be close to a professional, but I do know fun and intense games when I see them.  Cake Mania 3 is definitely on the fun and intense side, and probably more on the intense side.

Wedding Dash in Review – Let the honeymoon begin?

weddingdash1I’ve watched my wife play time management games for years now.  I have to be honest that I’ve never really understood the attraction to the genre.  Well, it was time to find out what these types of games are all about, and I now have a new found appreciation for the genre.

What I first found interesting in this game was the strategy element.  I mistakenly thought that this was a game that you just tap aimlessly as quickly as possible to get everything done with in the time limit.  Maybe I’ve played too many shoot ‘em ups…

Westward in Review – Worth riding off into the sunset with?

westward5There’s nothing quite like coming to a new world or city, to find out it hasn’t been developed yet.  Welcome to Westward pardner!  You are among the first settlers in the West!! While this may be a port of a PC game from a few years back, it’s still a whole lot of fun!  Most importantly, it really is implemented very well on the iDevice thanks to its touch screen.  But we’ll get to that in a bit…

Alien Blobs in Review – A new “spin” on the match 3 genre?

alienblobs1Yes, here at Touchmyapps, we are dedicated to bring you as many reviews as we can.  If it means I have to sacrifice myself and try every match 3 game, I will….for you! So, without further ado, let’s review another match 3 style game.

Right off the bat, this isn’t your mother (or father’s) match style game.  We’re not shooting across, we’re not shooting up, we’re not even shooting downwards.  We’re now tied on a string going around in circles matching the colored “blobs”.  I have to admit that it took me a few games to wrap my head around this simple change to the genre, but once I got used to it, I really enjoyed it.  This brought in a sense of excitement to the genre that I haven’t felt in a long time.  It almost (dare I say it?) felt like an action game…

ATTRACTION in Review- Still attracted to the genre?

attraction1

Match 3 puzzle games.  What’s not to love right?  Fortunately if you like them, unfortunately if you don’t, there are many many choices to be had in the App Store.  Perhaps it’s the fact that these type of games seem to translate very well to the touch screen or it’s just a familiar and popular genre.

SlotZ Racer in Review – One Button of Pure Unadulterated Fun!!

slotz1Racing games.  It feels like I’ve played them since the beginning of time.  I remember playing Turbo on my ColecoVision (I know… what the heck is/was a ColecoVision?).  I played Pole Position and OutRun in the arcades, and the updated racers from Need for Speed, Forza to Burnout.  I don’t want to toot my own horn (no pun intended) but I’m pretty good at them…

A-Go-Go Square in Review – Go-Go or No-Go?

agogo1

Let me begin by saying I love Qix style games.  I remember playing them in arcades… Yes, I know it’s hard to believe but us “elderly” folks actually used to go to arcades to socialize and play games, rather than in our basements talking through headphones with our friends who are in a different household, or over 2 iphones via wifi.  But this isn’t a history lesson.  It’s simply to point out that I hold a special place in my heart for these type of games.  Perhaps unfortunately and/or unfairly, I also come in with certain expectations.

TanZen in Review – Not just another puzzle game

tanzen-1What can I really say about TanZen, other than this is a perfect puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  There is a lite version for you try out, but beware, if you’re going to try the lite version, chances are you’re going to upgrade to the full version.

STITCH’em WORDS in Review – A Picture is worth how many Words?

stitch-1Word games, we’ve all played them.  Crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Boggle etc etc.  I’ve honestly never been a huge fan of these type of games, but for some reason, I really enjoy them on my Touch.  Either I’m getting wiser with age, or these games translate beautifully on this device.  Maybe it’s both…
