news-iprod-2010-02

Some people say that the only thing capable of travelling faster than the speed of light is rumors. And have I got a juicy one for you. Okay, maybe it’s not a completely new one, but is still more than worthy of attention. We’ve all heard of the iTablet, Apple supposed strike at the netbook market, a hardware which many hoped would debut at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock and Roll” event. Well, it seems we may not have to wait for much longer.

Thanks Computerworld Blog

There is simply nothing more exciting than new hardware announcements from Apple. If this rumour from the Taiwanese Infotimes is to be believed, 1st-generation touch screen based hardware from the Cupertino company could be in the hands of Apple’s faithful by October. As part of that faithful, I am counting my pennies now and have come up short by about 20 000.

OLED coming to Tablet and 3rd Gen iPhone and iPod Touch?

Thanks Computerworld Blog

BoyGenius cannot stop hyping up of objects that no one needs ;) . Today their ninja’s report that the next iDevice may sport another buzzword: OLED screens. Indeed, not only does the rumour specify OLED for the iPhone but OLED for the yet unborn Netbook or tablet which has been stirring Apple zealots for many years.

According to Smarthouse, “Apple already have working prototype of a new Netbook which will be manufactured in Taiwan with the OLED screen supplied by LG”. This contrasts with earlier reports that Wintek would be manufacturing the screens for Apple. LG are purported to be working on a special OLED touchscreen that does away with fingermarks even after constant use.

Of course, release of a next-generation iPod and iPhone is not news or a rumour in itself. Apple tend to release redesigns fn their iPod and iPhone family once per year with updates to the capacity on a sometimes more frequent schedule. iDevice fans, this year may so far be great for rumours, but it also may out some great new products from Apple.

Premium Apps, iPhone OS 3.0 = Introduction of the Tablet?

Thanks Computerworld Blog

Thanks Computerworld Blog

Computerworld blog reckon that the 3.0 sneak peak may have connections with the rumoured premium App Store Apps as well as Apple’s highly anticipated tablet. Why would these premium apps connect with the tablet? Resolution. The tablet is currently rumoured to be a 10-inch touch panel produced by Wintek. Those 10 inches would boast a far higher resolution than the current 480*320 of today’s iPhone and iPod Touch allowing for a break from mere thumb-driven input.

Whether these new premium apps will be games or productivity apps – all is conjecture until actual announcement, however with the new screen real estate, Apple’s device would drive a market for more expensive and higher quality applications. Would Apple skip over the Netbook market entirely for an Apple designed tablet? If they can retain a usable in/out array (complete with firewire) a tablet would be the perfect device for road warriors, pirates, ninjas and barbarians – bring it on Apple.

Netbook Rumours Thicken: But Can’t Touch This Yet

As a review site with a quazi-flare for rumours and yellow journalism, TouchMyApps is all ablaze with the latest building of the myth of Apple’s touchscreen Netbook. Yes, yet another report crept to us a bit slowly from Digitimes that more than just talk is about; an order has been placed for touchscreen panels.

According to the Article, Wintek are cooperating with Apple and are prepping to ship in 2nd half of the year. Wintek also stated that they are unaware of what application the touch panels will be employed nor when the product will materialise.

Be it a bigger iPhone (dear me no) or a NetBook or something we have not fathomed, I do hope that this rumour is more than hot air.

iPhone’s Little Big Brother: Netbook this Summer?

fat-iphoneRumours of an Apple netbook or tablet have been flying for years, but since 2008, there has been an inordinate amount of hearsay. The latest is from production company Wintek who are reported by the Chinese publication, Commercial Times to be producing touch panels for the forthcoming Apple device.

According to Digitimes, Wintek mentioned that “no shipment schedule has been worked out yet, but shipments are likely to begin in the second half of the year”. What this means for iPhone and iPod Touch users is really no more than smoke until Apple release either product or announcement regarding any netbook or tablet device. However, considering that the newest rumour comes from a manufacturer, some credence can be applicable.
