imo, the all-in-one chat app that has 700,000 daily users and an average of 50 million messages sent per day, has been updated to version 3.3 on iOS. Aside from the support for iPhone 5′s 16:9 screen, imo’s iPhone interface has been completely redesigned to give its users a more streamlined experience. Gone are the bottom taps, which have been replaced by a left/right swipe gestures that reveal both Profile & Settings (ala Facebook) and accounts for the various services you’ve set up.
Also new is the Group photo sharing feature. This allows users to take photos with imo’s native camera and automatically upload these pictures to their chat groups. Friends and family will then be able to view theses images in real-time. You can also choose whether photos are uploaded over a 3G/4G or Wifi connection, as well as set their resolution (small – 640×640, medium – 1280×1280, large – 2048×2048 and original).
Back in August, imo added voice calling, thus allowing all imo users to call each other for free over 3G/4G and wifi. The great thing about the app is that it supports all the major instant messaging services, like Facebook Chat, Google Talk, Skype, MSN, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, and Jabber, so you no longer need to have multiple chat apps open at once (or installed for that matter).
As a free app, imo is definitely worth having on your iDevice – provided you have iOS 4.3 or higher installed. Oh yeah, it’s also available on the web.
