OmniFocus for Mac and iPad go on sale of first time on App Store (50% off)

OmniFocus for iPad now $19.99 (50% off)

The WWDC goes live at 10AM PST today and as most expected, Apple will indeed be unveiling iOS 6. In other news, OmniFocus for Mac and iPad have dropped in price in their respective App Stores for the first time ever! For those of you not familiar, OmniFocus is hands-down the best personal task manager around; it’s much more involved than your everyday todo list app and was designed with David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) Methodology in mind.

OmniFocus for iPad has dropped to $19.99 (down from $39.99) and OmniFocus on the Mac is now $39.99 (down from $79.99). New users may be put off by the relatively high price point, especially when compared to other GTD tools out there). However, this is simply a case of an excellent company charging premium money for a top notch product.

There’s no doubt that OmniFocus has a fairly steep learning curve, but once you figure out how to setup the system and best make use of the tool (i.e projects, contexts, perspectives and the like), you’ll find this advanced task manager highly rewarding. To help you get started, the Omnigroup have posted videos to show you the basics and their support page has various PDF documents introducing OmniFocus. Alternatively, you can check out David Sparks’ excellent 3 part OmniFocus Ninja Tricks series, in which he shares various tips and tricks and shows us how to get the most out of the app.

It’s not known how long this sale will last, though if you’re serious about improving your productivity and have been thinking about upgrading to a more powerful and versatile task manager, I highly recommend you grab them ASAP.

And if you’re a fan of The OmniGroup’s products, OmniPlan was just released today for the iPad. It’s priced at $49.99 and you can find more info on this productivity tool on their webpage.
