Adventures of Gilbert the Ghost for iOS – Kids’ Tilt Control Action Game
Chicago, Illinois – Tenlin Studios today is pleased to announce Adventures of Gilbert the Ghost 1.0 for iOS, their new, Halloween-ready, tilt control action game for kids. The side-scroller allows players to fly through the air as Gilbert the Ghost, collecting as much candy as possible, while avoiding such obstacles as bats, witches, zombies, and spiders. Played in landscape orientation, Gilbert remains on the far left of the screen, and players control his movement up and down by tilting the iOS device. Kids try to fly through candy to score points, and around obstacles to avoid losing a life.
The game starts simply to allow the player to become accustomed to the controls and the scene. It will also default to Easy difficulty mode, but may be changed to Hard at any time by pressing a button on the lower left corner of the map screen. In Easy mode, the only obstacles gamers encounter (other than the boss monsters) are bats and witches, and they both remain stationary. During gameplay in Hard mode, players encounter bats, witches, zombie hands, and spiders. Bats and witches will fly toward Gilbert in Hard mode, making it especially challenging. Each obstacle hit removes one of Gilbert’s lives. He begins each level with three lives, and if he loses all his lives before completing the level, it repeats, and Gilbert again has three lives.
The first zone that Gilbert flies through is the dark Forbidden Forest. Players score points by tilting the iOS device to touch/collect the red candy. When kids encounter a bat or a witch, they must tilt the device to move around them, or they can touch the screen to send a “BOO” out of Gilbert’s mouth that will eliminate the obstacle. At the end of the fourth level in the Forest, Gilbert faces a giant Tree Boss, who hurls branches at Gilbert. To beat the boss, Gilbert must dodge the branches and shoot “BOO”s at the boss until he defeats him.
* Stationary bats (Easy mode, levels 1-12)
* Stationary witches (Easy mode, levels 1-12)
* Moving bats who fly toward Gilbert (Hard mode, levels 1-12)
* Moving witches who fly toward Gilbert (Hard mode, levels 1-12)
* Zombie hands that pop up from the ground (Hard mode, levels 5-12)
* Spiders that come down from the ceiling (Hard mode, levels 9-12)
The second zone starts at level 5, and Gilbert now flies through the Ghoulish Graveyard until he reaches the end of level 8 and must face a spooky Ghost Boss. The Ghost Boss throws evil ghosts at Gilbert, who defeats this boss by dodging the ghosts and shoots “BOO”s until he defeats him.
The third zone starts at level 9 where Gilbert enters Dracula’s Haunted Mansion. Gilbert meets Dracula at the end of level 12. Dracula transforms into a bat and charges quickly at Gilbert, so players must use quick reflexes to allow Gilbert to dodge him and at the same time shoot “BOO”s to defeat him. Once Gilbert overcomes Dracula, the player wins the game. High scores are saved for each level, and successive games are increasingly difficult.
