Palo Alto, California – Appbackr today launched its largest app campaign in the company’s 18-month history to raise $100,000 for “Cowboys & Aliens: The Kids.” The amount raised will help improve, develop and enhance their product and to provide it to all corners of the globe on as many devices as possible. The educational app book for children, produced by Orbit Media Group, LLC, is based on the new Universal movie Cowboys & Aliens, and New York Times best-selling graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
Appbackr seeks individuals who are interesting in “backing” apps and employs “crowd funding” – the concept of rapidly socializing the app to large groups of people in relevant networks by providing valued content and rewards. Internet users can fund the app for as little as $23 on appbackr’s wholesale marketplace.
The money raised will be invested to improve, develop and enhance the product and to provide it to all corners of the globe on as many devices as possible. The backer in turn will make a profit when the app goes into iTunes and is downloaded. The app retails for $4.99 with a planned launched on iTunes on August 2.
“Appbackr works to engage fans in promoting and profiting apps that they love. We are very proud to be launching Cowboys & Aliens: The Kids app book on appbackr. We want to involve fans worldwide to be part of the social publishing revolution”, says Trevor Cornwell, founder and CEO of appbackr.
“We are excited about working with appbackr to help extend the reach of “Cowboys & Aliens: The Kids” into a community of forward-thinking investors,” said Chris Adams, founder of Orbit Media Group. “As the app has so many ground-breaking features and functionality, plus a global partnership with Starlight Children’s Foundation, it was natural for us to embrace further innovation through crowd-funding as part of our strategy.”
Orbit will make a donation from each sale of “Cowboys & Aliens: The Kids” to the Starlight Foundation to continue its mission of brightening the world for seriously ill children. The app will serve a dual purpose providing entertainment for the general public and helping better the lives of the seriously ill children and families Starlight serves.
The app’s story revolves around three children – a Western cowboy, a Native American, and a space alien – who meet and become friends while their parents are away battling for the future of the world. The characters find common ground across race, color, creed, language and species. The App Book features a breadth of voice narration, painting functionality, sharing and customization of characters using photos from one’s photo library, plus social sharing via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail.
