Singapore – EyePower Games today launches AlterLook 1.0.1, a free and fun makeover iPhone application. Using the face-detection technology that is employed in EyePower Games’ flagship products like NewsMaker and Moo-O, AlterLook allows its users to easily and accurately superimpose photo-realistic hairstyles and glasses (many of them are shades) on themselves, without the need for the users to make big position adjustments to the virtual assets to fit their faces, thus making AlterLook a very user-friendly application. With over 30 hairstyles and glasses to mix and match, the users can essentially create hundreds of different looks of themselves or of others.
Using AlterLook is really simple: users would first need to choose a photo from the Photo Album in their iPhones or to just take one on the spot. After the application has detected the faces in the photos, the users can then select any hairstyle and/or glasses to put on themselves. For faces that are at odd angles the users can do minor adjustments like resizing, rotating or shifting the hair and the glasses to fine-tune the effects. The modified photos can then be saved back to the Photo Album in the iPhones or they can be uploaded and shared on Facebook.
“This is the first time that EyePower Games has developed a non-educational product since it first developed its highly successful NewsMaker for schools,” said Benson Loo, CEO of EyePower Games “AlterLook is basically a ‘time-out’ project for us – a breather. It took us very little time to do this but we had so much fun doing it, especially testing it out on one another in the office! We saw users of our NewsMaker and Moo-O products really love these “AlterLook” effects that we thought perhaps we should do a simple and easy-to-use app for everyone to enjoy, not just users of our educational products.”
Since it was made available on the Mac App Store, AlterLook has made it to “New and Noteworthy” on the Mac App Store in countries such as Germany, Singapore, Thailand and United Kingdom.
