Broken Sword 2 – the Smoking Mirror: Remastered will launch for the iPhone/iPad tomorrow!

Hi folks! You all remember me, TMA’s adventure games addict, right? Well, have I got a treat for you! Charles Cecil, creator of some of the best adventure games ever, has just contacted me to inform that Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Remastered is going to be released shortly. And by shortly I mean tomorrow or even today, depending on where you are at. For example it has already hit the store in New Zealand!

If you spotted the Remastered label attached to the famous adventure – good on you. Broken Sword 2 will not see such a massive content update as the the Broken Sword: Director’s Cut (TMA Review), but the amount of various types of bonuses, features and tweaks is enough to satisfy anyone.

Update: It’s already available in the US store as well.

First of all, to cover the basics – graphics have been vastly improved throughout the game with even all new animated facial expressions. Other general additions include high quality music as well as a context-sensitive hint system, and diary.

But wait, there’s more! Embracing the cloud-storage trend Broken Sword 2 will going to feature Dropbox integration for handling save games supporting continuous play across different platforms. And of course where would modern games be without social networking… so GameCenter for achievements is a given.

And last, but certainly not least, Broken Sword 2 will be a universal app. Yep, you heard me!

And one more final note. Early next year Charles Cecil and Dave Gibbons will jointly publish a comic supporting Broken Sword 2 – the Smoking Mirror, which they have graciously offered to us a bunch of signed copies for a giveaway. Lookout for some tasty New Years treats from TMA in the coming year!
