Vito Technology, the Apple Design Awards 2010 winner best known for Star Walk for iPad has come out with its latest app, Family Doctor – Symptoms and Diagnosis, available on the App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch for $4.99. Developed together with the famous books publisher Dorling Kindersley, it reproduces the popular symptoms checker book ”Home Adviser” with interactive features that make it easy and fun to use.

If you don’t have time to see a doctor, you can try to pinpoint what you’re feeling using the app’s “yes & no” Q&A charts, go through your symptoms and find approved guidelines on what to do. From headaches to baby tummy aches there is an answer for pretty much everything – including that strange baby cry that you have never heard before.

The app boasts of 150 easy-to-follow symptom charts to help you determine the importance of your symptom: whether it is a minor disease that can be treated with self-measures or something more serious requiring immediate doctor’s attention.

Each chart deals with a particular symptom such as chest pain or hearing problems. The Q&A charts for children and adults simulates a visit to the doctor – you just answer yes or no for Family Doctor to get to the heart of the problem and take the required steps. The built in chart-finder facilitates the search of the most appropriate chart for a particular symptom. More importantly, there is a “Call Your Doctor” function within the app, making the trip to your trusted doctor just a tap away.
