San Francisco, California – The App Hall of Fame is a brand new, independent initiative launched by 148Apps and including selection committee members from over 40 web and print publications. Modeled after the Baseball Hall of Fame, the App Hall of Fame looks to create the premiere archive the very best mobile applications and games by honoring only 12 new inductees per month. Applications are nominated and voted on monthly by the selection committee with the applications getting the most votes being inducted.
The applications inducted into the App Hall of Fame stand the test of time, yet they may or may not be at the forefront on the App Store, social media sites, or tech publications. The App Hall of Fame will honor the very best applications no matter if they have sold 6 million or 600 copies. In that spirit, the App Hall of Fame has the goal to increase the discoverability of applications that may have dropped out of the public eye, yet still demand attention due to their exemplary originality, design, and functionality.
Jeff Scott, founder of 148Apps commented on the App Hall of Fame “There are so many really fantastic applications that were released months ago yet we only seem to pay attention to the latest and greatest. These older apps and games are ones that users need to know about, but due to the constant deluge of new applications being released they may never discover these older gems. The App Hall of Fame intends to help fix that problem.”The App Hall of Fame is proud to announce their first 12 inductees. Nominated and voted on by the 47 member selection committee, these applications represent some of the brightest stars in the mobile app world.
