Delivery Status Touch In Review – Package Tracking Made Perfectly Pleasant!

I’ve been doing a lot of buying and selling online lately and one of things that’s alway been a pain is keeping track of the shipments. I’ve even tried some apps before to help with the tracking, but they either didn’t provide enough details or didn’t quite have all the shipping services I needed. Then I found Delivery Status Touch from JuneCloud, a package tracker that’s beautifully designed with support for a host of delivery services.

A key ingredient to any tracking app is the services it supports. As such, I was overjoyed to find that Delivery Status currently has more than 25 built-in services. And if the one you want is not supported, simply drop in the website URL, tracking number and desired info under “Other” and Delivery Status will track the site for you. If you’re wondering how diverse it is, an example of some of the services offered are: FedEx, DHL, UPS, Purolator, Japan Post, Royal Mail and Canada Post. There are even options for sites like Apple and Amazon. Truly impressive.

Using the app is extremely easy. When you have a package you need to track, just tap the “+” in the top bar then select the service required, give it a name (eg eBay Purchase), pop in your tracking number and voilà. If like me you need to track a lot of similar packages, there is a stored list below where you can select a previous shipment and edit it/save it as a new one. It really doesn’t get much easier than that.

When you’ve entered shipments to track, you’ll see them listed on the front page. Then as you you launch the app it automatically refreshes each item to see if there is a status change and adjusts the list accordingly. If you need more info just tap the item and you’ll be able to see it’s location on a map, share the info with someone via email or you can simply visit the full details on the company’s actual website. The only thing missing really is push notification on your iDevice. It’d be much easier to get updates via push rather than having to open the app every time you want to check for status changes. Hopefully, this will be implemented in a future update.

The design is definitely eye pleasing. The overall theme colors (black/cobalt) works nicely, and for each of the shipments Juno Cloud have actually taken the time (where available) and themed the individual shipments based on the services’ brand colors. That for me was the icing on the cake. If you’ve read enough of my previous reviews, you know how I feel about design. This is a perfect example of how to integrate various colorways and themes into one screen.

Now if that’s not enough for you, there’s more! If you create an account at JuneCloud, you can check the status of your shipment from any browser. For you Mac users, there’s even a dashboard widget that you can install! Own an iPad as well? The app is universal! So there are plenty of extras that will ensure you always know where your package is at all times.

If you’re looking for a really well rounded shipment tracker (and Push Notification is not a deal breaker) I highly recommend that you add Delivery Status Touch to your app collection. It is certainly one of the best package trackers the App Store has to offer.

As I was after push notifications (very handy!) I ended up going with an app called “Posted”. Its cheaper than Delivery Status Touch, has push notifications and also supports a heap more companies (over 50 at the moment I think).

I would recommend – http://www.postedapp.com and there is a free “lite” version available to try it out.
