PhatWare Releases WritePad for iPad French, German, and Spanish Editions
Mountain View, California – PhatWare Corporation announces today the immediate availability of WritePad for iPad French, German, and Spanish Editions. WritePad is the first product to offer natural handwriting recognition input in the French, German, and Spanish languages on iPad devices. The new version also includes a Twitter client, which allows users to compose Twitter updates in their own handwriting, and the Handwriting Input Panel in addition to the full screen handwriting mode.
WritePad lets users take notes in their own handwriting with an iPad stylus pen, or a finger. The state-of-the-art handwriting recognition software will adapt and learn while it is being used, improving the recognition quality over time. WritePad supports simple gestures, to select text, cut, copy, paste, insert special characters, and more.
The WritePad Twitter client allows users to send Twitter updates directly from WritePad. It can also display the Twitter timeline and replies to your updates, making it possible to copy, retweet, and reply to Twitter updates.
The new input method allows users to enter text by writing on the input panel which occupies approximately the same space as the on-screen keyboard. The writing is immediately converted to the digital text and the intermediate results are presented to a user before the final output is sent to the application. Using the handwriting input panel may be significantly faster than writing by hand in the full screen mode or using the on-screen keyboard, as it helps to reduce the error rate during recognition. Users can now choose either the full screen, or the input panel handwriting mode depending on their preference.
WritePad has a spell checker with it’s own custom dictionary, a context analyzer, which allows users to dial phone numbers, or open URLs embedded in the text. Other WritePad features include:
* An auto-corrector, which automatically fixes common spelling and recognition errors
* A Shorthand feature, which lets users perform editing commands, insert the current date, time, and any repetitive text by writing a short name and drawing a circle around it
* A file server, which allows users to exchange documents over Wi-Fi between two or more iPad or iPhone devices, and to download files onto the desktop computer using the Internet browser
* Interface to the Bing Translator, lets users translate WritePad documents to 13 supported languages
