My Turn Mobile launches Warp Factor 1.0 for iPhone – New Learning Game
Tiburon, California – Warp Factor, an educational iPhone and iPod touch game from My Turn Mobile, is now available in the iTunes Store. An outer-space, arcade-style game, Warp Factor is aimed at elementary school age kids who are mastering simple division. By combining fast-action gameplay, playful graphics and original music, Warp Factor takes practicing a critical math skill to a whole new level.
The goal of the game is to drop energy balls of fuel onto spaceships as they fly by. The challenge is that the fuel comes in two digit numbers and the spaceships can only run on a number that they can correctly factor into. For example, if the dropper has a fuel ball with the number 21 on it, the spaceships that this can fuel-up are 1, 3 and 7.
The game is fast-paced and fun. Players accumulate points for each correct hit, but hitting three wrong ships on any one level gets them fired from their job. Each level ends with a wild bonus round in which the players see how many ships they can fuel in one minute. When the game ends, the score is entered in the top ten list and they can play again to try to better their score. The pace gets faster as the game advances through levels, while more numbers are introduced and more obstacles are added for increased challenge.
Warp Factor is unique in that it fuses a truly exciting, fast-paced arcade fun with learning. It’s designed to appeal to parents and teachers for it’s educational content and kids for the gameplay. The interface is immediately understandable: tilting the device moves the fuel dropper back and forth across the screen (using the iPhone’s accelerometer), while tapping the “Drop” button releases the energy balls. The graphics, sound effects and original bonus-round music are all top-quality.
