G700-1st Soft Camera in Review – An Entire Digital Camera Inside Your iPhone

There are tonnes of camera related apps available at the app store, enough to warrant their own official spot.  The majority of the good ones carry a single-function such as:  zoom, black and white, etc..  There are some multi-function apps but a lot most are photo-editors instead of camera apps.  ShiningWorks G700-1st Soft Camera is a pretty well-focused software camera for your iDevice.

I expected G700 to have the same old buttons and layout as a lot of image software. Let’s just say that I was pleasantly surprised. The folks at ShiningWorks went out of their way to make sure the app made your phone actually look like a camera.  Buttons, dials, it all looks just like the back of a regular digital camera which helps keep you in the proper frame of mind whilst shooting away.

You can also change the design a little bit if you want to switch it up. Just tap the library button and you get a handful of different styles to choose from.

The controls are very intuitive.  If you are familiar with a digital camera then you should have no problem learning G700. Buttons along the display activate or deactivate camera features such as: geotagging, date stamp, timer and so on.  They also added the ability to take rapid shots, an 8x digital zoom as well as a few after-shot enhancements.

The camera functions work very well.  Buttons are quick and features do what they are supposed to without any issues.  The only thing that I didn’t really like was the zoom function zoomed so fast. It is also hard to control zoom levels and at times, there is lag.

To edit the photos, just tap the playback button at the top.  From there you can apply filters to the image.  With over a dozen different filters to apply you’re bound to find one to suite each of your photo needs.  Another neat feature offered is the ability to quickly email a photo right from the app.  Just tap the share button and select the email option as well as the resolution.  The photo will then be appended to an email and you’re good to go.  If you want to change or tweak any of the other settings just tap the little black button at the bottom right.

I have to say I am pretty impressed with this app.  It offers more functions than most cameras and does them all well for an amazing price and with a design that is easy enough for practically anyone to pick up and use. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a bit more out of their iPhone camera.
