Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – The Director’s Cut for iDevice early 2010

Today is indeed a grand day for all fans of adventure games on the iPhone. Tony Warriner – one of the founders of Revolution Software – has let it slip on the official forums that the Directors Cut of one of the best adventure games of all time – Broken Sword – is coming to the iPhone early next year. What’s even more interesting is that the iDevice platform will see this remake of the classic game before the PC release.

The Director’s Cut version was released on the Nintendo DS and Wii in March 2009. The Nintendo version was bolstered by the added story of Nico’s investigation of a murder and the truth about her father. Prettying up the game were the hand-drawn illustrations and animations of Dave Gibbons.

This is not the first time Revolution Software have shown their attention to the iPhone. Earlier this year they released Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered – a remake of their cult classic and my personal ruling king of adventure games on the iDevice. With that in mind, I have no doubts concerning the quality of the release and await it with evergrowing impatience.
