iPhone to cozy up in UK threesome with Vodafone and O2

It’s lonely at the top. Despite their enormous…. revenue, Vodafone suffered a squeeze where it counts – losing the iPhone to O2 in the first round of bids. But after nearly two years of going it alone, O2 will have to concede room under the sheets for the world’s most revenued carrier as Vodafone receive Jesus.

Interestingly enough, Japan’s Softbank sprung from Vodafone’s loins in 2006 when majority holdings were sold. Now, Softbank are the only carrier for the iPhone in a country which just loves the 3GS, at least for now.

Vodafone’s move in on O2 territory is expected to happen in 2010 just as the exclusive carrier has reaped the benefits of 1 million subscribers who can’t get enough of expensive data plans, a lucrative section of mobile business which both companies will be vying for.
