Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be the franchise’s first story-driven GTA game for the iPhone. Yes, that is right, the series which inspired Payback, Gangstar, and Car Jack Streets, will hit the iDevice like a six-shooter this fall.
GTA Chinatown which is already available for the Nintendo DS will also be available for the PSP. We already know how much better games look on the iPhone versus the DS, but the release of GTA for the iDevice will give fans a great introduction to how well Sony’s handheld and the iPhone actually compete.
Expected release of the Sony version is 20 October 2009 with the iDevice version expected around the same timeframe. The below screenies should give a good idea of what the iDevice version will look like since both the PSP and iPhone utilise powerful graphics processors.
Following his father’s murder, Huang Lee has a simple mission: deliver an ancient sword to his Uncle Kenny to ensure his family retains control of the Triad gangs of Liberty City. Huang is a spoiled rich kid who expects everything to run smoothly, but his trip does not go exactly as planned. After being robbed and left to die, he will search for honor, riches and revenge in the most dangerous and morally bankrupt city in the world.
