Send your Prayers to the Western Wall by Way of the iPhone

sendaprayer1Ever wanted to visit the Western Wall just so you can wedge your very own prayer through the cracks of this historic and holy site? Well thanks to Munera, a new development team located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, you can now type out your own prayers and have them sent to the actual wall within 48 hours. As you well know, the Western Wall, also known as the Kotel or Wailing Wall, is located in the old city of Jerusalem and rich in history that dates back to the 10th century BC. With Munera’s Send a Pray – Western Wall app, users no longer have to plan a once in a life time trip (though of course, nothing beats the real thing) just to place their personal notes/prayers into the wall.

sendaprayer3Send a Pray – Western Wall is actually a fairly basic app designed with one thing in mind, and that is to send your custom prayers to the Wall and also be able to share them with friends and family via email/twitter. With a polished interface, the app is easy to use and the slideshow highlighting some scenes of the Western Wall (‘Pictures’ tab) along with the solemn background tune is well done – though it could definitely use more images. As well, the 3D globe you can interact with that will show users their prayer(s) flying from their current location to its final destination, Jerusalem, is a nice added touch.

In case you’re wondering, how exactly does a start up dev team manage to transport your prayers and hand delivery them to the actual wall within 48 hours? The answer is, they don’t. What Munera has managed to (cleverly) do is make use of the most reliable online service around that performs this very task, which also happens to be the official website of the Western Wall. Pablo Paniagua, Marketing Director of Munera tells me that after testing their app with this online service thoroughly, they believe that it is indeed a very robust system that can handle thousands upon thousands of prayer requests. As well, to ensure maximum efficiency, prayers are aggregated to fit in normal pages, then printed with a relatively small font and eventually concealed in the Wall.

Priced at $1.99, sending a personalized prayer to the Wailing Wall has never been so convenient, not to mention easy on the eyes. Send a Pray – Western Wall is definitely worth a look if traveling to the ‘Old City’ is out of the question due to that tight schedule and/or budget.
